Season's Greetings!

Nadia: Hi everybody! So, first off, I want to say Happy Holidays. We’re coming up to the end of the year now and, as much as I want to say this year’s been great...but no. Just no. But I’m not going to be cynical… yet. I’ll save that for another blog *Cough, couch* Our next blog, to be exact-

Tara: Which will be on New Year’s Eve!

Nadia: *Shakes head* What I’m trying to say is: thank you all for supporting us throughout this year. We have a lot of exciting things happening for next year. And I promise, we’ll get back to all the stories and our madness once the new years start again. Hopefully we won't have any more technical issues as well. Saying all that we’ll give you all that juicy goodness in January.

Tara: We might end up covering some of that next time, maybe. Although possibly after we’ve done our resolutions. I mean, you don’t often get to have this kind of timing without even trying, and having the blog on the day/night is pretty awesome! But I’ll zip it about that too - Spoilers and all. For now though, I wanna add my own seasons greetings! So, Merry Christmas (Or whatever holiday you celebrate, I just hope its an awesome one for you!)

Both: So, from our little family to yours, Till next time against.

Nadia: See you soon and have a good one.

Tara: We’ll see you all soon!

Tell Me a Fable Pt 7

---Last Time---

Parame: *To the collective gods* My lovely children, I hope you don’t mind if I steal away Kyzuomah for a time. My little Venus will keep the rest of you company. Now, Kyzuomah, let’s be off. There’s something I need to discuss with you privately.

Inari: Lead the way, Mother.

*The goddess looks over the younger gods, before clicking her fingers. What appears to be her chamber door materialises in the middle of the room. The pair walked in unison through the doors. A faint creek and they shut behind them, vanishing the moment they thud closed*

---

*When reality settled around them once again, the doors had opened into a familiar room - it was impossible to mistake the threads of fate that strung across the ceiling or the weaves of fortune that hung like tapestries from the walls. Other than Inari and Parame, there was no one else in the room, the attendants obviously either busy elsewhere or had been dismissed for the day. Silently, Inari followed Parame deeper into the room, where the soothing sound of purifying water pouring into the crystalline pools created a soft melody in which Inari found themself hard pressed to feel tense in, despite the fact the ‘undercover work’ had been a great source of tension within the younger god.*

Parame: I must say, love, you’re looking more and more like a war goddess. I’m happy I put you in Yozi-Chi’s care. Your skills in tactics and combat have improved as well! Mama’s so happy…. Well, I expected nothing less from my chosen Hero.

Inari: Well, I know that Yozomarah would never expect anything other than the best from me. I’m certain if I hadn’t put in my all or tried to hold back he would have been rather harsh in his punishment. Not to mention you wouldn’t have made such a fuss of having me trained under Yozomarah, or under Chizohara when I was supposed to be only a minor harvest god if there wasn’t a reason for it. Beyond keeping an eye on them, of course. I just wish that you didn’t insist on bulking me up so much. It causes havoc on my transformations to have to tailor my appearance while keeping my increased skills once this is over with and I can regain my favoured forms.

Parame: Hummmm~? Was that a complaint I just heard? Oh my oh me, these old ears are unreliable aren't they? Can't hear as well as I used to. *Chuckle*

But trust me, little one, you’re going to need that extra muscle. Both for aesthetic and practical use, besides ‘discipline’, not only one's body, but also will is an extremely valuable trait. It’s just that….that boy may be a bit too disciplined…

*Shock* Ah, but right now, it's not about him, it's about you. First off, let's dispel that little disguise that I cast. I need to give you a physical while I'm at it. Go disrobe. I’ll prepare the water while you do so.

*Rolling their eyes at Parame’s methods of shooting down their whining, but resolved to think about what situation Parame seemed to be considering they would need to look so bulky in, Inari did as they were told, disrobing without any particular care for their own modesty - after all, this was Mother and Inari had never been particularly body shy - and draping the garments over a divider that stood close by. Heedless of their now bear form, they made their way towards the pools, knowing that Parame would adjust the illusions on themself as she saw fit, whether or not they did anything else. Though one thing concerned them*

Inari: Is it wise that the form you gave me is dropped for now? I assume you have a reason that you believe it’d be safe for me, otherwise you wouldn’t be risking it. Or is it just that I need more purifying than I thought and the illusion would get in the way of ‘healing’?

Inari [Inner thoughts]: I hadn’t thought that I’d been bad enough to need cleansing my soul, but...Have I been holding onto things I shouldn’t have?

Parame: Did you forget that you are not of this time? Any stress or changes on or to your body will have ‘some,’ effect on your body when you arrive home, I would like to minimise damage when/ were we can. And on the off chance you are injured or major changes that will occur I need to document them, changing… I mean ultering people memories to fit the loos in time or changes in personality.

*Inari shoots her a quick look, but suppresses the surge of emotion that came from that revelation. Taking a deep breath, they closed their eyes and calmly reminded themself that, despite the fact she was Mother and the god whom they were acting as Hero for, it didn’t change the fact that she was one of the oldest primeval gods there were. In a way, she was time, she lead the world to its ultimate fate. It shouldn’t be a surprise she could, would and likely had done things like this many times before, even if part of them couldn’t help but flinch at the thought of being merely a pawn in the grand game of fate. It wasn’t anything personal. Besides, she must care for them on some level, otherwise she wouldn’t have even allowed them to know that much. She didn’t do or say anything without some form of meaning, even if she sometimes appeared whimsical or flighty*

Inari: I’ll obviously do my best not to get myself harmed or killed. Emotionally hurt, though….I can’t promise that. I suppose you’re right though. After all, I’ve….I’ve seen what that can do to gods of my rank.

*They would never forget Chizohara’s demise*

Inari: Then I give myself over to your care, Mother.

*Parame, having finished preparing the cleansing pool looked back at the younger god, eyes filled with something that resembled empathy. Slowly making her way towards the younger god. Checking their body for the physical changes, from there original form to there current predigested form.*

Parame: look into the pool I’ll put an image of the body you first appeared here with to your body now. See a difference?

*Almost despite themself, Inari looked into the pool to see what changes there had to have been. They were taller now. It was funny to think that they had a growth spurt, although they had lived in the different times for a few centuries at this point. It was almost a surprise to think they had been as short as they once had been. This wasn’t to say the rest of the form hadn’t filled out, however. While before there had been a certain fae like quality to them, they now had the lithe, yet sinewy form of an athlete, slim and elegant, yet made of whipcord muscle without an ounce of the puppy fat they once had, but hadn’t realised. Their face was slimmer, their cheekbones a little more pronounced, somehow taking on more aristocratic features. Without looking, they somehow moved from awkward child to an adult and hadn’t even realised it. Thankfully, they hadn’t lost the androgynous appearance they favoured, so they might not need to shape shift at all to retain what they once had, which they were quite grateful for. But what was, surprisingly, more obvious than even that was their eyes. Like all gods, the heavenly power that resided within could never be hidden in one’s eyes. They were the windows to the soul after all. That iridescent glow that shone there seemed so much brighter than before. It was almost fascinating. No wonder Parame needed to maintain the illusion to make them seem lesser than they were, otherwise it would be obvious to anyone, even half blind or with barely a working braincell that Inari was no more a minor god than Parame herself was.

Still, even that fascination didn’t hide the fact that, as they leaned closer, their hair shifted and fell into their field of vision. Startled - they certainly hadn’t expected the random blindness - they ran their fingers through it, pushing their hair back, startled when it took that much longer to each the ends. In fact, if they weren’t careful, their hair would soon rival that of some princesses back in the country that worshiped them. Not to mention that, while still quite fine, it was surprisingly thick and seemed to shimmer under the lights.*

Inari:....I’m going to end up tripping over my own hair…..when did I become Rapunzel?

Parame: Pft. about a century or so back to be perfectly honest. Saying that if we style it right the length should not be to bad *Snapping her fingers.*

*With the snapping of her fingers, Inari’s hair tied itself into a long braided ponytail, looped back into itself as to dangle just above the younger gods rear.*

Parame: I’ll style it in a moment. But first… one would assume you like your new form, from the self oggeling. Puberty was more than kind, no?

Inari: Well….*They twist to look at themselves a little more, before offering a smirk* I think I’ll get used to it.

*They hesitate a moment, biting their lip*

Inari: ….Though…..will….Rozyus….get used to it….?

*They wince and fall silent. They’re still unsure how to particularly deal with the situation the two of them were in right now, even if they didn’t want to end up in Chizohara’s situation...they still didn’t want to end up in Yozomarah’s either. Inari doubted they could be that stone faced as someone else courted someone they loved with all their heart. But a tiny bit of them that didn’t care about any of that just didn’t want Rozyus to be put off by the physical changes. It made them feel a little like a child again getting nervous and wanting to impress all over again*

Parame: PFT!!!! Ahahahah Ahahhhah haha haahah ahahahahaha!

*The goddess burst out in hysterics as it was easy to tell what the younger god was thinking. The young god seemed to turn a pretty shade of crimson at her incessant laughter.*

Older Parame: Cute, aren’t they?

Young Parame: That was absolutely adorable!!! ‘Will….Rozyus….get used to it….?’ Oh, I can’t! Hahaha! I can’t, my sides hurt! Ahahahahah!

*It was in that moment that, beyond being mortified, they realised that there was not only the Parame of the current time there, but a second Parame, the one for their own time. For a moment, they could only stare in horror.*

Inari: Oh no they’re multiplying!

*Older Parame hurls a throw cushion in the direction of the younger deity as a form of retaliation.*

Older Parame: *Chuckle* Such a cheeky Child! And don't worry, in all honesty his first reaction is, ‘Who is this beautiful stranger?’ The next is ‘God Damn!’ and finally … ‘Big brother ‘Nari…. Upgrade, Rozy like~! No...no wait you can't go for him, remember!!!’

Inari: *Flushing* Y-you don’t have to tease me about this, Mother, it was a legitimate - wait, wait, wait, not important right now. How….why are you here when you’re….here? I mean, That is to say, how is it that there are two of you here. And why?

Older Parame: Don’t worry, I’m not staying. I just came here to drop off some clothes, you’ve gotten bigger after all. *Looks south* Oh look how much you’ve grown! *Teasing tone.*

Young Parame: I know right? If I was a few eons younger….

Inari: *Flinching and shifting so they would stop staring* I believe the saying goes ‘My eyes are up here’.

Younger Parame: Hey, just enjoying the eye candy. Nothing wrong with that?

Older Parame: I know right? You should see the army of fan girls/boys that’ll swarm when this version of them pops up.

Young Parame: Should I give him bug spray when he goes back?

Older Parame: Pft! Tried that - it didn't work.

Inari: They’re far, far more persistent than any bug. Should the world ever end, all that would survive would be cockroaches and fan girls/boys.

Young/Old Parame: *Chuckle* Well, it’s your blessing and curse, my dear. One of the reasons you were brought here is to learn how to deal with those… ducklings that seem to follow you. And a few of those ducklings will become allies if pushed in the right direction. Not just by having a ‘Fuck it!’ attitude.

Inari: Of all the reasons for going into the past, believe me, ‘dealing with fans’ was not one of them. Followers, perhaps, but not ‘fans’. Though I suppose I can understand. Having the right connections and support from people will certainly not harm me, but at the same time….*Shudders in memory of more ‘enthusiastic’ fans*

Older Parame: *Knowing eyes* Whether you like it or not, you are popular amongst the gods. Taming your rabid fangirls is your responsibility.

Younger Parame: Yozomarah, rather than Chiz-Chi, would be a better example of that.

Older Parame: There may be not other….. Well Baldr maybe a close second, so I should say there are rare and beloved gods that are born and raised in this world of ours none more so than you. Saying that, the gods are protective of you for a reason...

Younger Parame: Being on good terms and having a path of trust, reliability and reputation is your grated tools. You need them by your side more than anyone, more than anything, even before ‘Love’. Achieve that and becoming exceptional at your job(s) to the point where there would be no room for doubt or complaint would be the best move going forward. But that must come first. Achieve that level of standard, then… well, there wouldn't have any room nor legitimate reason to worry. So, in essence, ‘it’s better if we part,’ was the best way moving forward. But only as a temporary fix. ‘We need to gain back the trust of our kin’ was the only half the battle. The rest will come from you both, but I’ll aid you more when you get back to your original timeline.

*Inari couldn’t help but look away from them both at that point, arms loosely wrapped around themself, troubled. They understood, of course, what the two versions of Parame were saying, that they needed to earn the trust and respect of everyone so they would realise that they would not fall victim to the same troubles as these events, but at the same time, parting for such a long time could also end up with the situation that Yozomarah was in as well. It wrenched at their heart to need to part themself from the light of their life, but….*

Inari: *Whispers* It’s…..not forever. Not forever…

*They could only hope they weren’t just trying to convince themself*

Older Parame: With that, that’s my cue to leave. I’ll see you soon, my sweet child.

*With a snap of her fingers, the older Parame seem to merge with the younger self.*

Younger parame: for now baith the waters in the bathe will help you relax and clear your mind. For this next Act. you’ll need a cleat leveled head also i’ve left a new garment for you by the pools side, when your don baithing call me ill help you dress.

*Inari nodded, distractedly, murmuring a soft thanks before they descended into the water, allowing the purity to flow through them as they sank within it. There was a certain method to the cleansing that was not all physical washing, but meditative, almost praying, if a god could pray to oneself to tap into their own holy power. Hoping the cleanse would likewise bring peace of mind, Inari fully submerged themselves and began.

It was some time later when Inari finally emerged from the trace like state of cleansing, feeling the odd unburdened lightness within themselves, an ever present calmness that wrapped them in a type of tranquility that Inari hadn’t even realised they had lost through everything they had seen and done in their time travels. They hadn’t even realised how much they had missed the comfort of the purity, the feeling of being absolutely sure in one’s own incarnation.

With the warm serenity blocking out the cold dark dread that had once clenched them in a death grip, Inari emerged from the waters and dried themselves, dressing in the clothing that Parame’s older self had left behind. They were simple robes, no particular patterns to them, not even dyed, just white cloth that nonetheless felt gentle against their skin. Dressed and somewhat presentable, they ran their fingers over their long hair, drawing the braid to drape over their shoulder to avoid getting caught. They certainly didn’t want to become dirtied again after only just rediscovering their inner peace.

That done, Inari made their way to where they knew Parame was waiting, although what they saw as they approached was not what they expected. Out of the corner of their eye, Inari had noticed an older looking Lilyah drift past them, bowing quickly in both themself and Parame’s direction, looking distraught and rushing off out the room. Maybe something unexpected had popped up in their preparation work?*

Parame: This should get interesting from now on, no?

Inari: ...What are you hiding from me? I’m not sure I want to know your definition of ‘interesting’ when she looked so upset. What must I prepare to see?

*Tying what seems to be two different fate lines together, the older goddess looped the threads in between her fingers and begin pulling at them, creating shapes before letting them ‘reset’ again. A few moments later, Venus materialises back in the room as well, also aiding in playing with the fate lines. It seemed like the two goddesses were playing a game resembling cat's cradle. Both were so entranced in there game that they barely noted the younger god’s question*

Parame & Venus: Hiding? Nothing really. We’re just trying to give her a little push. Another God has been trying to seduce her and, well… let’s just say he forced a kiss. Our little flower ran of crying and in the direction of an apparently cold hearted god.

Venus: But, if we play it right, things should, finally… FINALLY, start moving. If you want to see what we’re doing, go back to the reflecting pool and watch. It’ll better illustrate what we’re doing here.

Parame: The idea is to not stop the pattern work until Yozi-chi and Lilly-chi get their hearts back to where they were a few centuries ago.

Inari: I see….though wouldn’t that take a substantial amount of time? If it’s done too quickly, even they’d know someone was forcing a change, no matter how much they want it. It’d need to seem natural, wouldn’t it?

Venus: Yep! It is time consuming. It might take a few days, but the results are worth it. And not really. Just look at them - it’s clear to anyone what they feel. Both of their emotions are ready to burst, both filed with agape and eros. It’s the perfect time.

Parame: My thoughts exactly. Once we get there, the story will finally be able to move on to where it needs to be. They’ve been stationary far too long, it's about time they got together.

Venus: Agreed.

*While the girls worked on the fate lines, Inari, frowning thoughtfully, made their way back towards the reflecting pool. As they peered into the crystalline depths, the water seemed to ripple and sparkle, changing hues before finally settling on a tree where Yozomarah was resting, gazing up at the stars.*

Yozomarah: *Sigh* Damn this foolish heart of mine, these...these childish desires…. Am I not grown…? Am I not capable to deny these foolish emotions…?

Tell Me a Fable Pt 6

Dear Diary,

It feels like it has been a while since I last took pen to paper. Indeed, I’ve not had the ability to really focus on such things for the last century or so, especially considering how focused my studies have been while in this time period. Yozomarah, the reincarnation of my old tutor Chizohara, is quite the task master, if not more so than his predecessor. Then again, perhaps it is because I have taken the form of a minor war goddess this time, rather than a harvest god that I had taken on as a disguise before? That is the theory I’m working with. Yozomarah is certainly thorough with the lessons. Including basic arms training, I’m also involved in military tactics and strategy, survival skills, world knowledge and the ever infamous Emperor Training, the later rivalling that I had to undergo as Parame’s chosen hero in my own time.

Now my current female form is almost as bulky as the male one I took. I’m pretty sure that everyone is trying to sabotage my outward aesthetics. Does the world dislike the fact that I sometimes wish to not resemble a powerful warrior at times? Surely looking less like I can break a man’s head with a flexed arm is a tactic in and of itself. I’m almost considering threatening taking the form of a slender and delicate person for a century or two after this, just to annoy Mother. I don’t wish to look like a bodybuilder all the time, Mother! Yes, I know you can see what I’m writing, this is told directly to you, Lady snooper!

Young Parame [Telepathetic Voice]: Geez and I thought I was melodramatic you have the figure of an olympic runner!!! I don't see the issue. Plus you didn't have ny meat on your bones… and I'm pretty sure I damn well feed you while your in my care!!!

And at least you now have a little somin, somin to hold on to if you know what I’m saying?

That is not the point, Mother. And I wasn’t underweight. Honest!

As much as the training aids me, it does leave very little time to oneself, especially when added to the fact that I was brought to this time period to observe as well.

Speaking of observing, while I have certainly seen plenty of Yozomarah and his people, thanks to my training with them, I haven’t seen much of Lillyah. It is rather in contrast to when I was in the previous timeline, when it strange not to see Mirah somewhere within Chizohara’s vicinity, however, the others have often spoken about it, either in passing, or to me in person, now I’m somewhat considered ‘one of them’. Unlike Chizohara, who had ignored all warning signs and continued to pursue a relationship with Mirah, even when it lead to his Fall and both his and Mirah’s execution, Yozomarah is obviously of the mind that sending Lillyah away would prevent the same form of temptation. While on the one hand it works, after all, I have yet to see Yozomarah Falling (Unless one adds falling into a kind of depression under that category - he’d never admit his unhappiness, however), there is a kind of gloom that seems to permeate the place, ever since Lillyah left

I suppose Lillyah took Yozomarah’s words seriously.

For a while, I only saw Lillyah in passing, if I was exceptionally lucky. These days, however, I have seen her, though she appears to be working with another god now that has seemingly taken to her.

I don't believe I have ever seen Yozomarah in such a foul mood as he was that day. He absconded to his room for a week, despite many a prompt and bribe, even though he refused to acknowledge that it was due to jealousy (At least, that is what we all believe it to be). Some of Yozomarah’s friends have, since then, taken him aside each time he has started to ignore things further in this regard. If he’s not careful, Lillyah may just return the attention to this new god. Yozomarah’s protests that he doesn’t care would certainly be more convincing if he didn’t look as though he would bite his tongue off or break his teeth from clenching his jaw so tightly.

I’m beginning to worry that the end results of this might still end up in a Fall, only due to different emotions this time. It could still all lead to despair. I’m just praying that this won't be the case. I don’t think I could stand to see another teacher become so twisted, or another innocent life becoming the scapegoat who’s soul would be torn apart once again.

I beg you, Fate, please, don’t let me see such an end again.

*The day had been a celebration amongst the gods, a festival in celebration of the deities that had spilled over from the mortal realms into that of the holy ones. As such, on that night, the gods of the group that followed the lead of Yozomarah had taken to their wing of the temple and were celebrating their own way. Wine and food flowed plentifully while music played and many were already in what Inari had been informed was ‘the zone’, where they were enjoying themselves, the food, the company and generally distracted by the atmosphere if not being intoxicated by the high alcohol content.

Despite the form Inari was currently using, along with their current ‘job description’, coupled with the fact they certainly didn’t want to reveal any time sensitive information, they had been careful with what they drank. As such, it was possible that Inari was one of the few people (If not the only one) who noted when Yozomarah began to carefully, subtly, move closer and closer to the exit as time went on. Finally, As his companions were lost to the celebrations, the god had finally slipped away, not knowing the eyes of his student watched him go.

The festivities raged on, the gods under Yozomarah’s leadership and a few of their lovers seemed to be enjoying themselves. The vibrancy of the room, both in the figurative and literal sense, seemed juxtapose against Yozomarah’s dreary heart.

Most of the gods seemed to be enjoying their desired companions for the evening while other indulged themselves with food and drink… faking both smile and stoic faces had taken its toll. Attempting to enjoy another festival without that person appeared to be the final nail in the coffin.

At least for a time, he needed to find a place to drown out the noise.*

Parame [Telepathically to Inari]: Little one, I shall allow you to hear the truth of his heart. Listen closely.

Yozomarah [Inner thought]: *Sigh* I…. I can’t do this. Not today…. I’ve achieved what I set out to do and yet… I feel so... empty. No, no….it’s better this way. He...no, She is safe with him. Her happiness is one that comes above all else, even my own. If this path truly makes her happy, then I’ll do my part, from the shadows. I won’t let you die the way that Mirah did...You’ll live. You’ll live, become a deserving someone’s radiant bride. You’ll be such a sight to behold as you walk down the aisle with that person, more radiant than I ever could be. He will be the sword and shield that will protect you...And, if you ever need it, I shall also be at your call...Yes...this is how it….truly should be….

*Meanwhile, the party was in full swing and it was the perfect opportunity to leave unnoticed, the open hall way let in a much needed winter breeze, it sobered Yozomarah some the sweet numbness that the liquor had gifted him was fading away, but he persisted onward. Venturing of temple grounds to an all to familiar secret hideaway, he was ignorant of the curious eyes of his fellow kin, filled with an untouched elegance.

Slowly, as the night wore on, the gods at the party had drunk their fill and began to disperse for the night, lovers slipping away from their partners with lingering touches and hooded gazes. With the tempting distractions gone to their rooms for the night (though not before some and whispered that they would be waiting for their partners to join them soon enough) the gods left began to turn their attention to their missing member, having realised a little while after Inari had that their leader had slipped away. With that in mind, the more sober of the group set up a reflective mirror in order to scry for Yozomarah, if only to make sure the god had not run into more trouble. Even intoxicated, the group were well aware of their leader’s moroseness in recent times after all*

Toyouke: Annnnd Big boy went and snuck out. Guess seeing our cute lovers finally got to him. On the one hand, I feel sorry for him~

Ninigi: On the other hand, Mr Boss Man had this coming. His little flower is now being tended to by another.

Sarutahiko: Can you blame that sweet lilly? She was neglected by the man who promised to love her unconditionally, and, even though she waited and waited, he never came. Then, one day, a new ‘gardener’ came along, found the weeping flower and helped her to thrive proudly once again.

Ukanomitama: Ouch...Way to pour salt in the wounds.

Benzaiten:But are we not telling the truth? The current predicament could have been avoided, but now he’s feeling the true extent of pushing her away. Pathetic, truly.

Wakumusubi: Hmm… though, saying that, he still has a margin… a small amount of time before that tiny crack in the window is closed forever.

Inari: Yes, but will he take it? That’s the thing.

Toyouke: He will.

Inari: Oh? How do you know?

Benzaiten: Have a little faith. His love runs like a damned river. It's just about ready to burst, just you bet. All he needs is that little push. *Grin*

Omiyame no Mikoto: Right, mother?

*Two goddesses seem to materialize out of thin air, an after image of Parame’s chamber seemed to fizzle in and out of existence before the two ladies forms finally settle.*

Parame: Hmmmm, sorry. Love - I have no jurisdiction over this one.

Venus: We both know that BULLSHT.

Parame: Ah, but is love not your forte, dear? Care to tinker? It would be a good exercise for you, no?

Venus: … You're giving me…permission to meddle with the hearts of a deity and a demigod? You KNOW the repercussions if this goes wrong, right?

Parame: But it wont.

Venus: And you know this….how?

Parame: Because I know all! Wooooo~! *Wiggles fingers*

Inari: *Raised eyebrow* Honestly, I don’t know why you’re surprised, Miss Venus. This is Mother we’re talking about here. She is essentially the embodiment of fate. I’d be horrified if she didn’t know, to tell you the truth, even if it does make throwing surprises her way near impossible. More’s the pity.

Venus: …??? Oh, have we met before??? You’re so cute… Tell me, are you-

Parame: Careful now, little girl, you might just end up messing things up if you start asking twenty one questions *Dark Chuckle*

Venus: *Eyes surprised before settling into smirk* Ahhhhh~! No wonder you’ve handed this over to me. Fine, I won't ask any more… Yet. But...

*The younger woman out reaches her hand to Inari dominant yet flirtatious eyes. Inari stilled, watching her carefully, inwardly unnerved by her almost knowing gaze.*

When you return to whence you came… and you’ve figured out what it is you need to learn her… come and find me i’ll assist you in want to do next i’ll make sure your love story.

Parame: *Sing song voice* Venus~ my little cherub.

Venus: Hmm~? What?

Parame: Don't promise something you can't keep, their story…. It's a complex one and as it stand well… we’ll talk more when we get back to my chamber. Until then keep being a good girl Kyzuomah-chi, ok.

Inari: *Blinking ‘innocently’* Am I not always, mother? I always do my best to act in the manner I should at all times.

Parame: *Raised brow* Uhh huhhh, and I’m the queen of sheba, little miss ‘I don't give a damn what other gods think’. I’ll file that under you behaving in a manner in which befits a goddess of your caliber, hmm?

Inari: Of course, Mother. As you say.

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Being something of a trickster is part of my nature. Though, I suppose I have perhaps been...more openly indignant than I should have. I should be better at repressing that rebellious side…

Parame [Telepathy]: Exactly. And that is one of the many reasons you are here. My little flower, there’s nothing wrong with having a rebellious nature. But knowing when to be silent and when to fight are important. Changing the views of ignorant individuals is always a difficult thing; patience, time and power are your best allies as a popular god. You must understand when to use them and when to reserve them. Now, in regards to that idiot wandering the fields without a coat… well, I suggest you keep a good eye on him, because things are about to become interesting.

Inari [Inner Thoughts] When you say ‘interesting’, I begin to feel concerned. Still, this promises to at least not be boring.

Tell Me a Fable pt 5

*From where Inari was standing, they could easily watch the groups that were in the extravagant Room of Fate. There was the larger group of gods and goddesses that seemed somewhat familiar to them, even if they didn’t recognise these particular gods who, for whatever reason, existed in this time period, but didn’t in Inari’s own, all behind the god known as Yozomarah, the god that had been reincarnated from the tragic Fallen god Chizohara. On the other side were the duo of Elder Gods, Thanatos, who was watching silently, and Parame, who was seemingly having a battle of wills with Yozomarah, particularly about Inari’s - or rather Kyzoumah’s - placement as Yozomarah’s new (if temporary) ward. Inari tried to make sure that they kept in the persona they had been given for this little trip to the past, at least outwardly, wondering what he was meant to be learning from this confrontation*

Yozomarah: Why, precisely, do you believe I’d be best suited to house this new goddess? Surely their are others far more capable?

Parame: That, my dear sweet boy, is not of concern. *Serious tone* All that matters is that you do as I say, understood Yo-Zo-Chi?

Yozomarah:....Fine. I understand, Lady Parame.

*Slightly agitated by the young man’s cheek to address her by her name, she slowly stepped forward, bending over slightly. Gently cupping the young man’s cheeks, she smiled, eyes closed and brows twitching slightly.*

Parame: *Chuckle* my cute boy, you have quite the nerve to address me in such a way….

Inari [Inner Thought]: *Shivers* Ah….that expression….he’s in for it now... Rest in peace...?

*The elder goddess began to pinch and stretch the young man’s cheeks. He twists in discomfort as he tries to find a way to be released from her grasp, but failing as she constantly recaptured the older boy.*

Yozomarah: Release me, you old hag!

Parame: OLD HAG? You cheeky little boy!!! It seems that you in need of some manners!!!! You address your Mama by name and then call her an old hag?! Oh no, no, no! You are not getting away with that, Yozu-chi!  Bad boys will always be punished!!!!

*With that, Parame practically yanked Yozomarah off his feet and ruffling his otherwise neat hair into a tangled mess through the power of a godly noogie*

Yozomarah: OI! One of you help me!

Ogetsu-hime: Nope, not my problem.

Toyouke: Listen, I would but… you kind of had that one coming.

Dakiniten: Nah bro, I rather fight you, than go up against her.

Benzaiten: Poor Yozo-chi, I knew him well.

Yozomarah: *Growl* Screw you guys!!!!

*Parame yanked on the younger god’s ears, causing the growl to end in a yelp. Morbidly fascinated, Inari wondered if that was more punishment for the language than his previous transgression*

Ninigi: Listen, who asked you to anger an elder god…? Hm? Brother, that yo’ business!

Wakumusubi: *Hands in prayer* Sorry, I’m a pacifist, but I’ll heal your wounds after, OK, leader?

Yozomarah: HELP ME!!!!!

*Ignoring his pleas for aid, Parame began to grab the corners of his mouth and pulled then, humming something that sounded a little like a funeral march*

Omiyanomi: Ha. Boy bye! I’m not dying today because sooomebody wanted to be a big man.

Ukemochi:  Preach, sister!

Omiyame no Mikoto: *Giggle* Man up, Yozu, it’s your mess, now lie in it.

Ukanomitama no Mikoto  You know, this is really none of my business, so I’m gonna go over there, flirt with this lovely goddess right here and enjoy the show.

Yozomarah: Seriously!!!!

Sarutahiko no Mikami : I can’t do anything, I’m only a lill’ kid!

Omiyanomi : *Coy tone*As if I’d break my nails fighting the ‘Maiden of War and Peace’. Are you mad? Oh, honey, I’m way too cute to die today.

*Deciding to take some pity on the god that was meant to be fostering ‘her’, Inari, holding back the hysterical laughter that wanted to bubble from their throat - their courtly training helped a lot in this regard to keep a straight face - made their way over to the two of them and took a deep breath before cutting between, giving Parame the brightest, sweetest smile they could manage*

Inari: Ah, Mother, please don’t fight anymore. How could I be given any guidance in this world if the one whom you placed me with is unable to do those duties? While I’m certain a god of his caliber could teach one such as I even while maimed, I would never be able to prove my own worth as his student to the best of my abilities.

Parame: *Shivers* …. You know, it’s scary how much of my traits has rubbed off on you.

Thanatos: *Smirk* You think?

Parame: Shut it, you! *Sigh*

*Releasing Yozumarah, the elder goddess ran her fingers through her hair, settling back into her chair once more, looking towards her chamber doors. They opened with a crack, bringing the room to a near silence. And after a moment, a small child pushing a much too large of a trolley popped their head though. It was comically adorable as the weight and size of the trolley seemed to overpower the small child’s might, but they kept on regardless.*

Small Child: G-good morning, mother! I brought everyone food… and-

*Noticing Yozuharah’s disheveled state, the small child ran over to the older boy to see if he was alright, while aiding to fix his sorry state.*

Small Child: Oh no, no! You can’t walk around like that, Master Yozumarah! What will the other gods think? You need to look after yourself more, ok? Oh! And your cheeks are all red! You don’t have a fever do you? Oh ah-

Yozumarah: ENOUGH! Don’t touch me so much, brat!! *Glare*

Small Child: O-oh s-sorry, I just wanted to….. I’m  sorry….

Yozumarah: *Shock* W-wait I-!

*The young child’s eyes were  downcast as he moves away, forcing a smile as he carries on his task, giving everyone their meal before disappearing to the other plane, it was evident what the child was holding back tears as he left.*

Yozumarah: *Looks down, hands clenched* Damn it… not again….

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Yikes….someone has a temper they can’t control, almost as bad as Susanoo as a kid, though he usually at least knew who he was yelling at, even when his pride was bruised….What’s worse is that, from that look he was giving the kid, he probably actually likes him as well, maybe a little like I did with Rozyus when I first started having feelings for him. Quite the quandary and mesh of terrible circumstances there, huh? I wonder if there’s something with this relationship, between that kid and Yozomarah, that’s supposed to be what Parame wants me to see? But what? Emotional control, maybe….?

*Shaking their head, they instead watch as the other gods rounded on their ‘leader’*

Omiyanomi: IDIOT!!!! How many times are you gonna make ‘her’ cry?

Yozumarah: He’ is a boy. And it’s not like I was trying to make him-

Omiyanomi: It doesn't matter! Lillyah thinks and acts like a girl! Treat her as such.

Ninigi: You more or less yelled at a girl. No matter how pissed off you are, you have to be a gentleman about it. *Sigh* Listen, man, next time you see her, just apologize.

Yozomarah: …. Whatever… I'm going..

Benzaiten: What about the new girl?

Yozomarah:.....

* Yozomarah left the room slamming the door behind him, a look of aloofness masked his face. Meanwhile, Inari sighed, running a hand through ‘her’ long hair, bemusement crossing their expression. Honestly, they had only the vaguest of ideas as to why they needed to see this - they had lost their own temper in their time due to people who had been scolding them for their love of Rozyus, but in all honesty, he had never yelled like this at the boy. At least any arguments they did have were generally not because one of them was just in a bad mood and taking it out on someone else*

Inari: So….does this happen often? I just wanted to be sure before I attempt to make a war shelter.

Benzaiten: Oh.. Ah, Kyzuomah, was it? Well, yes and no. He’s always had a bit of a temper, but when it comes to Lillyah… the truth is he really does care for that kid..

Toyouke: Call it for what it is - they’re both in love, but big boss is too stubborn or too afraid to admit it.

Ukanomitama: Who wouldn’t be? You remember what happened to Chizuhara and Mirah right? Falling from grace is one thing, but… what they did to Mirah… He wants to stop it before it starts. Keeping Lillah as far away as possible, for his own good.

Inari: I see. So he’s afraid if things go south as they did in that….tale….then the same thing could happen to….Lillyah, was it? He wants to protect her soul, but he feels to do that, he has to keep her away. If anything, doesn’t that just….make everyone miserable? And true it might not be the possessiveness that destroys them, but wouldn’t that still be a cause for concern? Couldn’t they just….uh….drive themselves to both Fall that way?

Wakumusubi: No, not really. Distance is probably the best thing for them. The moment they accept their feelings is the moment they’re destined to bring about each other's end. It would be easier if they could fall for other people. I mean, it's not like Yozo-chi doesn't have a plethora of potential suitors.

Omiyanomi: Same goes for the kid. He maybe a half breed, but he’s pretty cute, a hard worker and, well, those half breeds are irresistible by nature to gods…. We may act as if we don't care about them, but it's hard not to feel something when they're around.

Sarutahiko: It wouldn't be too bad if Chizi-chi or Yozo-chi were low ranked gods, but the higher you are, the more likely to are to fall.

Inari: So….I’m not quite understanding. You’re saying that he should get close by apologizing to Lillyah, but then at the same time are saying that Yozomarah should be staying away from her to avoid the same kind of fate due to their standing. What exactly are you all hoping from this? For the both of them, I mean?

Omiyanomi: …. We can't answer that you're still new… and though you may be in our care
love, your still a stranger, nothing against you but we don't quite trust random gods with our family secrets, wanna be part of the fam’ then your gonna have to earn that right dear. *Wink* But trust me, everyone in this room has those two best interest in mind.  *Gentle eyes.*

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: So, in other words, if I’m to ever find out why I’m here other than to further rub salt in the wounds, then I need to be trusted by them….*Mental wince* I really don’t want to get close again to people who’ll just end up destroyed like last time, but I….is it wrong that I want to see something go right? For at least one couple like Rozyus and I? Or are we truly just doomed from the start….?

Inari: I….I understand…

*That said, despite the fact the ‘leader’ of the group had already left, there was still the task of Inari’s stay, considering that ‘she’ was under their tutelage during this time. Which, as a student/apprentice, meant that Inari would be living with this group and (If Inari read the whys correctly) would eventually become Inari’s surrogate family for a time. As such, one they had been dismissed by Parame, the group lead Inari through the halls - Inari pretended they were not familiar with the layout to keep up the appearance of a new goddess - and was eventually brought to a large wing within the temple that housed the different gods. The rooms appeared to be open, apart from one, which Inari assumed belonged to Yozomarah.*

Toyouke: I’m guessing BIG BOY’S STILL SULKING IN HIS ROOM LIKE A CHILD, HUH!

*There was a loud bang at the closed door, as if something had been thrown at it.*

Inari: *Dryly* So….this happens a lot too?

Toyouke: *Chuckle* Pritty much, but after his brooding period, he’ll become all cute. He’s just in a bad mood since he made that Lily cry. Bet you a coin he’s thinking ‘I made her cry.. Again. But it’s for the best right, right? What should I do…? What can I do to make her smile again?’

Ninigi: ‘Should I bring them flowers? Treats? Should I talk to her in person…? No no, that wouldn’t work…’

Sarutahiko: ‘Damn it, why don’t these things ever turn out right! Aren't we meant to be? No we're not, and yet.. If only I could tell you how I feel. But that’s not allowed, right…? Right… and though I love you this much...’

Omiyanomi: Its better as is….its better if we're apart… that Autumn day by that tree was a beautiful dream, but like a dream…. It has to come to an end.

Toyouke: Something like that, right, handsome?!

*The tip of a blade pierced through the wooden door, along with growled threats, cursing at the pack of gods.*

Inari: *Starting to grin and smothering giggles* So then, yes, this happens all the time.

Toyouke: *Chuckle* Come on, I’ll show you to your room. That kid - Lillyah, I mean - spent a while preparing it. You may as well get accustomed to it.

Inari: I hadn’t known he was aware that I was coming long enough to prepare me a room. I’ll have to thank her when I see her.

*With that, Inari followed Toyouke to the room that had been made up for ‘Kyzuomah’. The room itself wasn’t actually too different from the room that Inari was used to in their own time, however their was more decorative weapons and shields in the room than the various paintings and plants that had filled Inari’s bedroom. It took Inari a moment to remember that Parame had named Kyzuomah as a minor war goddess, rather than the harvest based god that they had been last time, or the many jobed deity that Inari happened to be in their own timeline. They took a moment to observe the weapons absently, already missing Kogitsunemaru, the only blade that they had on display in their own bedroom. It would be odd, but Inari could handle this room, they guessed. It seemed that Lillyah had done a fairly decent job of the room, even if it lacked the plant life they itched to add.*

Ukanomitama no Mikoto: Our little Lilly wasn't done, but it's livable for now. You did arrive a little too early. If you want to grow plant or crops in you room, ask our little Lilly, or if you need some tips n tricks ask myself, Omiyame no Mikoto or Sarutahiko no Mikami. We’ll be happy to help. We have a few secrets for plentiful harvests, so, yeah.

*Inari nearly blurted out they’d love for the plants and didn’t need help, but remembered their cover, instead offering a slight smile (though they couldn’t quite hide the sadness)*

Inari: I’m a war goddess, I’m afraid. I’m not entirely sure I’d have a green thumb, even with the teachings of your great selves. Though thank you. For the offer, I mean.

Sarutahiko no Mikami: *Knowing Grin* oh yes but how do you expect men to fight on empty stomachs. Without a good bowl of rice in there stomachs, besiiiids being a patron of one more thing ensures that you less likely to fade away, the more followers you do have the better is all ‘miss’.

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Why do I get the feeling that these three know more than they’re letting on? Sarutahiko certainly put emphasis on that ‘miss’, and that expression….Did Mother….tell them something?

*They made sure to hide what they were thinking, however, and instead offered a slightly wider smile*

Inari: Ah, well…if you believe I might be able to cultivate such a skill, and Yozomarah doesn’t mind me learning things from your good selves too, then I’m certainly happy to give myself more reasons to stick around. Thank you.

*There were three distinct knocks at the chamber door, then a creek as a small veiled figure creeped inside. The sight was all too familiar to Inari… the attire though far more archaic he could tell its purpose: to hide another little flower from the eyes of outraged gods. The veiled figure carried a large bag and trotted towards them.*

Lillyah: For you, my Lady. Mother said you would be needing these clothes and other items.

Inari: Thank you….Ah….you’re….Lillyah, right? You helped to put this room together form me. I have something else to thank you for. Although I’m still new to existence, people have been very kind to me so far. I appreciate it.

Lillyah: *Bow* I am a servant, it is my duty to insure your highness’ health and that you remain on the correct path. Though I am still quite young, I will do my best to make sure you are most comfortable. Preparing this room is nothing. I’ll make a space for you to grow plants and such as you see fit, but it may take some time.

*The child bowed again, only to be startled by a slamming door. With haste, the child spun around to see Yozomarah walking towards them. Hastily, the child got to their knees and bowed.*

Lillyah: Master… I-I’m sorry, I was just delivering the Lady’s clothes a-and such. I promise this will be the last time you’ll see this face you hate so much!!! I-I’ll disappear from your view…. But, but I just wanted to be near you one last time… I-I’m sorry… I’ll go now..

*Not even bothering to look at the child, Yozomarah addressed Inari.*

Yozomarah: Take this. It is our schedule. We start an hour before sunrise, and we end the day an hour after midnight. Battle training lasts from morning to lunch, and the rest of the day its ‘Emperor training’. Understood?

*Trying not to grimace in sympathy for Lillyah being so ignored - even if Yozomarah had reasons to do so, they quickly bowed to the older god, noting how similar the training was to that of Hero training*

Inari: I understand, sir. May I ask, what is it that I should call you as my teacher? I wish to give the correct amount of respect where it is due.

Yozomarah: *Smile* By name is fine. You’ll eventually be part of the family, so there’s no need for you to use a tittle. Just know your place and you’ll be fine. Now, I must retire. The others will show you around.

*Turns to address Lilyah.*

Yozomarah: *Stern Eyes* You, don't you have somewhere to be? If you're done here, then go. This room was meant for gods and their lovers. It is no place for you. So get out.

Lilyah: *Barely audible voice* Yes Master…. Goodbye….

*The child moved in a rhythmic pattern, and a storm of petals carried his tiny frame away.*

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Ouch…..cold. I know he’s trying to protect her, but...I don’t know, it seems worse this way. I don’t think I could ever act so coldly to Rozyus. Even if I were to pretend Rozy were a mere servant to me, I just couldn't suppress my heart that much, even though I’m quite capable of killing my emotions.

Inari: Yozomarah….if I may….Doesn’t it hurt to be so...harsh? I….the others informed me of your quadery. I’m just a little concerned that you’ll hurt yourself this way.

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Well, both of you, but I think if I made it about Lillyah, Yozomarah might throw a fit.

Yozomarah: *Icy Glare* That is no concern of yours. I will have no more talk of this from you who knows nothing, understood?

Inari: *Forcing down a sigh* Understood. It wasn’t my place. Forgive me.

Tell Me A Fable Pt 4

*The Chamber that Parame frequented was similar to how it had been back in the past and how it would eventually become in the future. There was the weaves of fate, the threads and bells of individual lives, though some were different to what would or had been. After all, there were many who lived and died between the two points in history that Inari was most familiar with. Upon entering the room, it appeared that the various aides of Parame were missing, or at least otherwise engaged, leaving only two people in the room - Thanatos, and Parame herself. Unsure if they should let Thanatos know they were there or not (After all, while Thanatos was an Elder God, he was not Parame and Inari had not been told that Thanatos was ‘in the know’). However, they had already rang the bell for attention. Unless Parame said otherwise, Inari guessed they could keep their alias until it was safe to talk freely.

That in mind, Inari moved forward, the picture of nervous new god, bowing reverently to the two Elder Gods*

Inari: Please forgive me for the interruption. I can come back later, if you’re busy?

Parame: Ah, so you’ve arrived, dear? I'm must say, you’re a little early.

Lord Thanatos: Indeed, the other children have not been born yet. Do you mind-?

Parame: It's no issue, my lord, I was planning on it. Now, my cute boy, come to mama. I’ll send you on your way.

*It seemed that Thanatos was aware then. Inari dropped the persona, offering a semi cheeky smile, even if it was tainted a little by the somewhat emotional exhaustion born from witnessing Chizohara and Mirah’s executions*

Inari: You mean you miscalculated a bit, Mother? I’m never letting the Mother of my time live that down.

*Despite this, they made their way to Parame anyway, half expecting either teasing or a warning clip around the ear for their flippancy, but it was worth it.*

Parame: *Soft karate chop to the head.* You know...If you didn't look so exhausted, I would give you a ear full. Such a cheeky little pup, isn't he?

Lord Thanatos: Pft! What do you expect? You raised them.

Parame: Oi!

*A quiet, tired chuckle broke from Inari, before the Child moved to sit on the Elder Goddess’ lap. True it was something they did more in their earliest years, less so in recent times. However, even the slightest hint of comfort helped. Plus it was a silent apology for the teasing*

Inari: It’s not so bad, Mother. I’m certain I picked up many more good traits from you as well.

Parame: Oh, so first you cheeky, now you're being cute? You really must be tired, huh? Well… I guess you’ve only ‘just’ witnessed that event. Don't worry, I’ll be escorting to to our next location. You’ll be able to rest tonight.

Inari: Is….that possible? I mean, I can understand about my being able to take an alias in the past and, as long as I’m careful, come back to my own time without the universe missing my dominion, but won’t it affect things if Fate goes missing for a while?

Lord Thanatos: *Chuckle* Quite possible. In fact, all three of us exist outside of time, so walking through it is nothing. It's as easy as dismounting a horse. But, now that you’ll have an escort, you won't feel the effect of the rift. Watch.

*Inari only blinked in confusion, unsure in what manner the god meant by ‘not feeling the effect of the rift’. However, they could not ask before Parame had rose to her feet, holding Inari how she once did when they were still a very new god, the Child clinging to her so they would not risk overbalancing the Goddess, yet, oddly, it almost felt as though gravity wasn’t quite working as it normally would. It wasn’t obvious. They might have even missed it if they hadn’t been in their precarious position.

Realising what Thanatos had asked, they began to pay attention. It was almost as though they were seeing double. For a moment, there was not three gods, but five, Parame and Thanatos overlaid by another self. A moment later, and even they seemed to be gone as the room seemed to blur, as if stretching or moving at lightning speed while the three stood still in a disorientating stream of colour before, like a rubber band, everything snapped back into place, as if nothing had happened at all, leaving Inari blinking.
With easy elegance, Parame sat down on her throne like chair once again, as if all she had done was adjusted her gown. Even more startling was that, even though it had looked dizzying, Inari didn’t feel disorientated at all now they were…..back?

Blinking, they looked around. The room seemed the same, except, once again, for the slight adjustment and colour of some of the threads in the room*

Inari: We’re...further in the timeline?

Parame: Indeed - 1900 years in the future, to be exact. They should be arriving any minute now.

Inari: They? They who?

Parame: *Chuccle* you’ll see now take a look in the mirror and change into these… ‘Kyzuomah’.

*Assuming that Parame had changed how people would see them yet again so they wouldn’t cause issues if any god recognised ‘Kazuomari’ once again, Inari slipped from her lap and moved to the mirror. This time, Inari had longer hair and if they weren’t mistaken by the change in biological aspects of their appearance, they were currently female. It was no wonder they needed the change in clothing.

Absently they glanced at themselves as they dressed, smoothing the clothing that seemed not to hide their current figure. Intrigued - they might have to use some of these aspects in their own time on a ‘feminine day’ - they ran their hands over their hips, twisting to see how they looked from behind and turned to side view, interested in the particular sizing that Parame ‘granted’ them for this disguise.

*Walking past to fetch water, Lord Thanatos gave the ‘girl’ a side long look, shaking their head as they fetched a pail*

Lord Thanatos:  you know Vanity’s a sin right?

Inari: Tell that to every other god first, then to me. It’s not a crime to know what you’re working with, right? It would be shameful to mess up a timeline because I was unfamiliar with my body and made a blunder.

Lord Thanatos: Ummmmm hummm.. Sure whatever you say princess.

Inari: *Eye flutter* Awww, you think I’m pretty? Sorry, I’m a little too young, ‘My Lord’.

*The older God gave a flat look at the younger ‘goddess’, before addressing Parame.*

Lord Thanatos: You know, the longer I stand with her, the more evident your influence is… I fear for the children… Parame.

Parame: I know right… Heeeey~

Inari: How do you know it was Mother? It could have been Venus. I’m told she’s a bad influence on me.

Lord Thanatos: Please refer to my previous statement, to whom do you believe she picked it up from. *stares at Parame*

Parame: *Flirty look* Oh come now, there’s nothing wrong with using one’s feminine wiles and assets now and then. No?

Inari was about to continue their own tease. However, they were interrupted by the bell that signified someone was to enter the chamber and Inari quickly made themself seem nervous and submissive as a new god would seem in front of the reverend elders. They kept their head low, peering through their bangs to see who was entering. There was a young male in the lead of a large crowd of gods and goddesses of a similar age, his face a still calmness and eyes that seemed about as open as a locked door. They couldn’t get a good read on him, though there was a strange sense of familiarity as Inari took in his features, despite the fact they had never seen him before in their life. Trailing with him were many other gods and goddesses that wore clothing mostly of the Shinto or Buddhist pantheons.

The leading god stepped forwards, his stoic demeanor breaking slightly into a small smile for Parame, before settling into a subtle, polite confusion*

God: I’m sorry I wasn’t able to see you earlier. Did you still wish to speak with me, Mother?

Mother: Yep. It's quite a blunder on my part. You see, one of my children has finally come home after all this time. But, you see, they now have no living quarters. Also, since you are training under Lord XXXXXX, I thought I might bring in a new sparring partner… Nudge nudge.. Wink.. wink...

God: *Flat expression* Please tell me what you’re implying by the ‘nudge’ and ‘wink’. I do hope when you say ‘spar partner’ there is no other meaning behind it.

Parame: Whaaaaat? Me? Oh  I… I feel hurt, Yozo-chi.

God: It’s Yozomarah. I know you are aware of this. You were the one to name me that. Stop calling me anything else. You lost the chance to name me ‘Yozo-chi’ when you finalised my true name.

Parame: Whaaaaat~?! No! Yozo-chis’s cuter! You are Yozo-chi!  Yozo-chi!  Yozo-chi!  Yozo-chi!!!!!

Yozomarah: *Facepalm* I...don’t know why I bother….

Inari: It might be easier to just roll with it, sir.

Lord Thanatos: *Chuccle*Interesting….. Any…. Yozo Marah, be a dear and house this little girl. She's a minor god of war, Kyzuomah I believe her name is.

Yozomarah: *Disbelieving* ….You don’t know her name?

Inari: I was only recently granted it, sir. I believe that the choices were only mentioned in passing to Lord Thanatos prior to this.

Yozomarah: Hm…

*The god seems somewhat suspicious, however, they drop the subject for now behind the still, calm facade*

Tell Me a Fable Pt 3

---Flashback---

Young Parame: *Inconsolable crying* Chizi-chi, Miri-chi…. My children…. My sweet children….

Younger gods: This…. This was too cruel…. Why wouldn’t you have just let them alone….? Damn and when we found a cure as well…. Mother….. Damn, damn, damn…. The hell…. Damn it Chizo, Mirah…. Gone... they’re really gone….

High Council Member 1: Mirah… committed a crime. While Chizohara will be spared, Mirah will not be. If you don’t agree with him being punished in hell, remove his soul from this plane. Let him not able to interfere with us again…

---End Flashack---

*Time had passed since the tragic events of that day. However, nothing could be done to reincarnate the souls of Chizohara and Mirah until the damage had begun to mend once more. Unfortunately, the process took far longer than it might have done under ordinary circumstances. Due to this, Elder Gods were left in a quandary as to where to go from that point onwards, especially since the souls, while still somewhat fragile, would not be able to linger much longer if they were to enter the cycle of reincarnation once more.

As such, ordering all other gods to not disturb them for the rest of the day, the two retreated to Parame’s chamber in order to discuss what to do with the two souls*

Parame: We’ve been avoiding this for too long, but still quite the predicament…. Force the cycle of rebirth, and repeat until ready….or let them remain as they are and let them both fade…. Neither of them are favorable. But which is the lesser of the two evils in this case?

Thanatos: Neither option is inherently evil. However, you yourself are aware that these souls still have much more to offer, a duty that still has yet to be fulfilled. Far crueler would it be to transfer such a destiny to souls entirely unsuitable to the task. However, what they do need is time. Time we do not have. Therefore our only option truly is to reincarnate them for a time. It would not be what is needed yet. However, it would allow the souls to become strong enough to face the task at hand.

Parame: Ha! You think that at their in fragile state, they could survive it? Chizi-chi went half mad because he was trapped. Doing this would would damn near turning them into a beast. While Miri-chi, well, you saw it: the fighting spirit that once burned in their eyes died out the moment they realised it was hopeless. Inter-species’ romance is a far too radical idea for this time. If they were going to be together, they would need a heck of a lot of support ‘n not just any kind - top tier gods, excluding us. And the likelihood of that again is...

*Thanatos closes his eyes thoughtfully, a slight frown on his face*

Thanatos: The main problem, however, is how to avoid the same mistake happening a second time. Should it occur once more, before the souls have had a chance to heal...that might be crueler than allowing them to fade here and now.

Parame: Well, we have another two options, none I like, either….

*Gestures with her fingers* One: we do as those rodents suggested and separate them - Miri-chi stays with me on our plane and Chizi-Chi stays with you on the other. We keep them as far apart from each other as physically possible. It would reset their relationship pattern to becoming two strangers toward one another… but not even I would know how long it would take for that to happen, they had a strong bond last time round there design… well what was being formed and planed was elaborate, it could take lifetimes to unwind…. Then again there souls seem to call out for each other. Like magnets drawing each other in eventual I can see them finding each other again… and replay last chapter.

And then there's our other choice. Two let them be together… but we’ll put fear into them. They may fall in love but they won't act on it. That way they would avoid following in their last selves footsteps. But again… that whole intricate pattern thing…. There's an off chance they won't listen to reason and act on their love/ attraction. Then game over.

Thanatos: Indeed, no option would be foolproof. And, unfortunately, the latter of which could easily be...manipulated. Considering who it is we face, even if we have yet to enter a true conflict….Inspiring fear would be met with sympathy and promises of future where fear is unneeded. Or, as you yourself said, it might result in rebellion and simply allowing them to walk into a trap all on their own. At least with the first option, they can at least gain a better understanding of their situations long before they even meet. Should they cross paths, they may, at least, have more of a chance of either remaining as trusted confidants, but not as foolishly reckless in love. And if they were to fall in love, at least, individually, they may have a chance to have gained connections that might at least step them in the right direction.

Parame: There bound to ‘recklessly fall in love,’ it's a flow of their nature… but not that I think about it… let's marry the two?

Thanatos: Marry them? As in form a full bond between their souls?

Parrame: No… but put a pin in that thought. Might come in handy later…. What I’m thinking is you raise Chizi-chi in the lower plane. Raise him on stories of past events and make sure he has backers - politically powerful and respected. Meanwhile, I’ll raise Miri-chi in this plane. I’ll raise him like one of my personal servants. I’ll make sure he's well respected and have that spark back in his eyes. Docile by nature, but when pushed-

Thanatos: *Sly smile* He becomes like you?

Parame: *Chuckle* What are you trying to say old man….? That I’m a near unstoppable force both willing and ready to rip the heavens in two to get what I want? That I, by nature, hold the scales of justice and am more than ready to bare my fangs if and when needed? Oh dear, I hope that not what you're suggesting or little Ol’ me may get offended.

Thanatos: I hardly said it like a bad thing. Immortality would be dull without you, I assure you. Who else would I be able to plot torment of fools and idiots with?

Parame: Aww, you’re so swee- *pause*

Parame: Wait, ‘hardly’? What do you mean ‘hardly’?

Thanatos: In any event, I see no reason for that plan not to take effect. It would be rather interesting, I’ve not had a protege in some time. Were you, perhaps, thinking that we should begin to chose a Hero once again?

Parame: My thoughts exactly. That way, we would have the excuse of them always being around them… for ‘protections’ sake… as their future ‘Masters’, of course. Besides, the closer they are to us, the less harm He can do to them.  Oh, would you mind separating the hybrid Chizi-chi, back into Chizi and his kin? For now, I want to develop them separately before they're fused. The stronger they are separately, the more powerful the fused self will be… Well, that's the theory, anyway.

Thanatos: Hm...I assume that you foresaw the fusion then? Interesting. Indeed, the fused soul is an interesting one no doubt. Those souls, once split, will never quite feel right alone, however. It seems I might end up having a group of ducklings rather than one in the future. Such an interesting outcome this will be…

Parame: Pft! Don't tempt me. You may end up with a tapestry portraying that scenario, and I would hang it in my temple.

*It seemed like eons sing the two elder gods shared a genuine hearty laugh together the pair had been so preoccupied with gathering and molding the fractured remnants of the two souls that they had seemed to care for their own mental well being at times. This moment of relief seemed like just what they needed. It was…. Refreshing to say the least.*

*Elsewhere in the time-stream, Inari had appeared in a new time once more, in a room that was exceptionally familiar to them. It was, in fact, the same room that they had turned up in before, only the slight variation of furniture, the light that showed a different time of day than the one they had been in the first time and what looked like a new tapestry hanging from the wall let Inari know that they were not yet back in their own time, but at some point between the time they had witnessed the lives of Chizohara and Mirah, but before Inari’s own birth.*

Inari [Inner Thoughts]: Well, not going to learn anything standing around here….Time to see what is important about this time that Mother obviously feels I need to see. I just….hope it doesn’t end up like….last one.

*Shaking off the numb ache left behind from witnessing the execution of the tragic lovers, Inari, checking to see that they were still wearing the nondescript clothing of a minor deity rather than the more elaborate robes of their station back in their own time, makes their way from the room and began to explore the halls, absently noting the differences, even if they would occasionally incline their heads politely should a god do the same to them. There was indeed a difference they noticed almost immediately. While there were not the amount that were in their own time, there was definitely an increase in the number of Children of Two than there was when Mirah had still lived. They were discreet, of course dispersing themselves among the servants - Inari had a feeling that they did not want to fall down the slippery slope Mirah had - but they were not exactly hiding their presence either.

As for gods, there were a few that Inari recognised as gods they recalled from the older timeline, though they were much older now. Though they tended to take on the physical age they desired, if they lived long enough, Inari could see the centuries in their eyes that they hadn’t supported while ‘Kazuomari’ had been training with Chizohara.

Not entirely sure if they would recognise them as they were at the moment (it was hard to say if anyone recalled a minor god that seemingly vanished a few days before Chizohara was killed due to retreating to the other plane to watch uninterrupted), Inari made sure not to catch their eyes. Instead they made their way to Parame’s office once more. They were pretty sure the Goddess of Fate was already aware that they had arrived and they would rather not have Parame being upset with Inari avoiding her, whether intentionally or otherwise. It didn’t take them long - they knew the way by heart, after all - before they had reached Parame’s chamber and rang the bell for her attention, stepping inside.*
