Out of the Frying Pan...

--- Phoenix Headquarters ---

*21:00. Thunder starts rolling in, and a single light illuminates an empty hall, the sounds of footsteps echoes throughout the hall.

Nadia: *Sigh* I think I know my way around your piss hole of an agency by now. I know I’m the empress and all, but I don’t need an escort :3

Agent 1: Shut it, you!

Nadia: Rude much?

Agent 1: I’ve been ordered by the boss to take you to him

Nadia: Oh, you mean my sweetie pie told you to pick me up? Aww, what a gentlemen. Well he could have been sweeter if he would have picked me up himself. *Pout*

*A voice is heard through the door*

Lorenzo: And why, pray tell, would I do something like that?

Nadia: Well, Lorenzie, I am your wifu and shouldn’t you be giving me a lot more TLC, like…

*She opens the door, Lorenzo is sitting at his desk and drinking wine*

Nadia: ...Sharing that wine for starters! A sister could use a drink. I mean, boy, I’ve had a long, long day! And second, when are you gonna send me to a decent hotel, hon? I’m a 5 star girl, if you know what I’m saying. I can’t be dealing with this shanty town of a shack you call a base!

Agent 1: Why you!!!

Agent 2: This girl!!!

Lorenzo: *Calmly sipping his wine* How many times must I tell you, that reacting to her is exactly what she wants? She likes playing little games. Quite juvenile, really. She should know by now that I am not so easily played. *looks at Nadia with a bored expression* Are you quite done with your games, ‘dear’?

Nadia: Oh honey you finaly playing along *thows arms arround him and steals his glass, taking a long sip* oh you boys are still here? Well mommy and daddy are gonna be bissy and little kids shoulden see this next part ^.6

Agent 1: i’ve had it with this bi-

Agent 2: may we be excused sire *both agents glair and Nadia*

Lorenzo: Just go *waves them off before glancing at Nadia out of the corner of his eye* And you should be careful what you take from me. Things that people like myself can drink could poison people like you. What would you do then if because of your idiocy you die? You are soon going to bring yourself to a point where I might just let you.

Nadia: *Chuckle* Yes, I’m sure that bottle of ‘Estate Argyros Vin Santo Santorini’ will kill me. I must say, it’s been aged to perfection. If I were to guess… it’s been aged for 10-12 years, am I right? *Slides onto his lap* And besides, I’ve danced with death on more than one occasion, and if I may be so bold, my dear, neither you nor death frighten me. *Takes his hand and wraps it around her neck* But know this, my love, I will kill you long before you even attempt to take my life. We will go to the abyss together.

Lorenzo:*Raises eyebrow, but otherwise expression is unreadable* Oh? Why so confident? *Tightens his fingers briefly around her neck* What makes you think that I won’t just wring your pretty little neck now and be rid of you?

Nadia: *Chuckle* Two reasons: I have faith in Pandora, the bond between man and the mystic, is ever growing and as cliché as it sounds, I have faith in my orgonisation. Its what I… we beleved all those years ago. And even if you decided you wanted to end me, you wouldn't.
Lorenzo: *Sneers* So, you’re clinging to a long burned out hope? Typical *Roughly squeezes her neck before flinging her to the ground, standing up abruptly* You should get rid of those expectations of me, Nadia. I’m not the same man you knew. Don’t expect me to cover for you again. Next time you decide to risk your neck, it’ll be on the chopping block. *With that he strides from the room, slamming the door closed behind him and leaving Nadia alone once more*

Nadia: *Cough cough* Well, Lorenzie, I have something you desperately need. Funny you say that you’re not the same man... but you made sure I landed safely, didn’t you? *Sad smile*

--- Around the same time, The Broken Seal, Izumo Region, Japan ---

*While various priests and priestesses preparing themselves for the sealing ritual, Tara watches proceedings with some interest*

Tara: Huh….I’ve never actually seen one of these done close up before. I guess with this many people involved it’s not your average, everyday kind of sealing, but….Still, it’s interesting. You don’t get to see this kind of stuff first hand in the research department.

Alastair: Under different circumstances, I would have brought you here for training. But now is not the time for this. Are you prepared for round two? It’s not going to be easy; while I was on my way down here, the miasma around that place was unbearable, even for me. Are you sure you’ll be able to handle it?

Tara: Well…..I’m not going to lie: I’m scared. But….well, I didn’t let that spider lady get the best of me and this is important, right? I just have to suck it up. Though, if all goes well and I don’t die or something, do you think I could still get some training here? I’ll admit I’d love the idea of being able to do this kind of stuff one day - uh….the sealing bit, or learning this kind of training, not the dying bit, of course.

Alastair: *Chuckle* Once we seal the site, I’ll ask one of 626’s future agents to personally teach you some basic warding magic. The more battle ready spells take years to master, but we’ll practice it together once everything has settled down, what do you say? *Pets Tara’s head*

Tara: Really? Awesome! Even bigger reason not to get myself all beat up again…..uh…..not that I needed a reason, heh. But I’m going to do my best. Ugh…..though I suppose it’s…..normal to feel a little sick before a major fight? Just nerves, right?

Alastair: You’ll get used to-

*Alastair cuts himself off as he senses something and rushes over to the Head Monk. They rush to the entrance of the village. Worried, Tara runs after them until she skids to a halt beside Alastair and the Head Monk. Her eyes widen*

Tara: Oh hell…...
